BRIS
About BRIS

The Biological Risks Information System is a complete and user-friendly software system for the biological safety. BRIS can be met with the registration obligations arising from the 'Besluit GGO en Regeling GGO' (Decree and Regulations GMO), the requirements for the registration of Biological Agents from the 'Arbowet' (Working Conditions Decree) and the 'Milieuwet' (Environmental Protection Act).
As part of Biosecurity, BRIS can be used to monitor the presence of and access to certain risk-organisms. BRIS provides insight into which persons are working with which biological agents and / or genetically modified organisms, in what areas this happens and under what license.

Of the granted licenses, all employees involved can be recorded including the project staff and the health officials. In addition, the locations, the members, the containment levels and composition (vectors, donor sequences, host species and strains) are captured. Correspondence with the licensing authority is also kept in the system for complete archiving functionality. BRIS has the ability to link documents for a direct availability within the system.

All and biological agents and biological risks which are relevant to the organization can be defined. A complete list of the most common agents is supplied standard with BRIS. Information about disinfectants, the use of PPE, etc. can be added. The system offers quick selection options on type of organism, the name, the BA class etc. It is also possible to determine own groups for a quick selection.

BRIS is a complete management system for anyone working with genetically modified organisms and biological agents within your organization. It provides answers to questions such as:

  • Where are the GMOs and BA stored and from what is the GMO composed of?
  • Who is working in the department with which BA and GMOs under what license?
  • Who and what department is responsible for which permit, location or device?
  • Which areas are suitable for handling / storage of the GMOs and BA? What properties have these locations? Who are authorized to enter?
